FS#17: Failed to install kernel during Arch Setup (Mac Mini G4) K Mon, 19 Sep 2011 09:29:37 -0400
Message "Failed to install kernel" or something to that regard.

Using default repo (ftp://ftp.archlinuxppc.org), packages download no problem.

TTY5 shows no errors or information.

Work around: chroot and install the kernel manually (as per older installation guide instructions), then install yaboot.]]>

FS#15: Arch Linux unbootable on PowerBook G4 Adam Jimerson Mon, 20 Jun 2011 09:12:27 -0400
I know this is not due to a hardware fault because I was able to get Debian 6 to see my hard drive from the installer and install a bootable system.

Note: I am not attached to my current setup (can't stand Debian) so I will be willing to wipe this machine for any kind of testing needed.]]>

FS#14: Can't install Archlinux PPC on PowerBook G3 Lombard Tom Wizetek Mon, 11 Apr 2011 14:47:03 -0400
CD boots up, boot loader executes, finds RAMdisk, shows hardware info, but then things get stuck at "GMT Delta read from XPRAM: 0 minutes, DST: on"

- Tried booting 'arch' and 'arch-ofonly'; 'arch64' produces DEFAULT CATCH! code=900
- Tried zapping PRAM
- Swapped a bunch of optical drives which are otherwise confirmed to work
- Tried various RAM module configurations (based on my experience with OS X installs failing with 512MB of memory)

Just to confirm that both systems are OK, I successfully booted and installed Debian 6.0.1a PPC from a CD.

I don't know if it's an important piece of information but neither system has a battery installed.

See attached pics for more info.

I'd love to put Arch on this sucker. Thanks.]]>
